I have been a mother for 13 years. In 13 years I have learned a lot. The most important thing that I have learned is about the example I wish to set for my children. The passing of my mother almost 13 years ago taught me that our children do not become who we tell them to be. They become who we are. They learn from our mannerisms, our habits and our beliefs.

13 years ago I decided that I was going to become the woman I wanted my daughter to become. I wanted her to become confident in herself. I wanted her to be her own woman. I wanted her to be healthy and beautiful. She is now 13 years old and I am proud to say that she is an incredible young lady. She is smart and funny. She is confident. And she is healthy and beautiful. She is a wonderful friend and I am proud that I have had the privilege to spend 13 years with her so far.

Over the last 13 years, I have left my corporate job as an audit manager in a big accounting firm. I have become a stay at home mother in a new country. I have trained as a Dru yoga teacher. I have dealt with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, adrenal fatigue, post natal depression and hormonal disturbances.

I have come through these years stronger, happier and healthier than I have ever been. I have learned so many things. The most important are:

It is important to prioritise pleasure in your life. Motherhood is all encompassing. It is so easy to lose your identity. It is perfectly natural. We are nurturers and we love deeply. There comes a time when you realise that you serve your family the best by taking care of yourself first.

Relationships are everything. The most important relationship is the one with yourself. Mastering self compassion is the key to harmonious relationships with others.

Health comes from the food you eat, the rest you allow yourself, the thoughts you think and the passion you feel for your life. Food is critical. But no healing can happen if you don't love yourself as you are, first.

Being a woman is a gift to be celebrated. Taking care of your home. Wearing beautiful clothes. Putting on a fabulous lipstick. These are essentials and not to be taken lightly. Beauty is not superficial. Beauty is the expression of love in the universe.

I welcome you to this new blog. My hope is to inspire you to elevate your life. My hope is that you reach for the best version of yourself and that you let yourself settle into the beautiful woman that you are.
